Nan Lian Garden – Diamond Hill (HK) is one of the world’s most beautiful garden settings.
Cutting through Diamond Hill’s myriad of high-rise apartments is the tranquil Nan Lian Garden, a public park also built in the style of the Tang dynasty (618-907). Its scenic garden is meticulously landscaped over an area of 3.5 hectares, in which every hill, rock, body of water, plant and timber structure has been placed according to specific rules and methods.
This is a most inspiring place in the world – it combines the beauty of nature with the artistry of creative people caring, pruning, shaping ‘in-ground’ trees and shrubs and many incredible bonsais.

Why would I propose that our home property could be an inspiration to others?
Isn’t that a bit presumptious?
To make the case, a whole page is devoted to elaborate on concepts that underlie a devotion to create beauty within a modest size yard (by Vancouver standards).
Be reminded of Helen Keller’s Quote (link back to it)
‘Create Beauty from Ashes‘,
draws attention to utilizing cast-off resources, relegated to the ‘ashheap’ or ‘dump’,
to create interesting and beautiful landscape or garden features.
Of course, we can agree that “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”.
